Tobago Gold Team: What do you enjoy most as the leader of the Tobago Gold board?
Jacques: I enjoy working with a very diverse, highly capable team that genuinely takes pleasure in building an entirely new, innovative, and rule-breaking brand and business. We run a serious business but do not take ourselves too seriously. The team thinks in terms of solutions not problems, and we have a genuine respect for each other’s experience and skills. Ultimately, we reflect our brand values; carnival never sleeps, and we bring joy in a bottle!
Tobago Gold Team: Why do you consider Tobago Gold to be a great investment opportunity?
Jacques: The chocolate liqueur market is sizeable, growing and has a solid margin so even a relatively small market share translates into a significant and high-margin business. Tobago Gold offers genuine innovation in terms of its Caribbean heritage and flavours, being rum-based and aiming to be a lifestyle brand in a rather traditional product-driven market. With this approach, I think we have an opportunity to expand the traditional market footprint – mainly female and after-dinner focused – to a much wider, more diverse audience ideal for many more consumption occasions. The combination of these factors leads me to firmly believe that we have a genuine shot at building a meaningful market presence as our brand image will be highly attractive to any potential future buyers/investors.
Tobago Gold Team: What is your assessment of the taste of Tobago Gold?
Jacques: This is the first chocolate liqueur I like! In fact, I like it so much that I’m always encouraged to pour myself another serving. The product is not sweet! The taste is rich in high-quality chocolate, its combination with rum is new and much to my liking, and the real kick and true uniqueness comes from the Caribbean-inspired spices contained in Tobago Gold.
